This elegant and finely restored country house stands in a commanding position overlooking scenic Carsington Water, on the quiet outskirts of the stone-built Peak District village of Hopton. It is simply ideal for the larger family party seeking a high quality base for exploring the Peak National Park.
Spacious lounge with featured marble fireplace & original friezes and cornice-work, and a huge bay-window with lake views; good quality fitted kitchen, with breakfast area and views; fully tiled principal entrance hall with collonaded portico and cloakroom off; original turned mahogany balustraded stairs to 1st floor; rear stone entrance porch with boot-space, tiled floors and extra stairs to 1st floor; central flag-stoned corridor with utility room and bathroom off, and dual access to beamed dining room having exposed stone, beamed ceiling and fine lake views, and original serving hatch to kitchen.
The Victorian wing of the property retains many original features: cornice-work, internal arches, Minton-tiled floors, large windows, and carved mahogany balustrades, while the 17th century 'Farmhouse Wing' boasts many beamed ceilings, flag-stoned corridors and featured exposed stonework.The property's large lounge, roomy breakfast kitchen and spacious dining room offer much space to 'spread out', and the wide terraces and lawned gardens with mature trees overlook the lake and its bordering woodlands.

NB: This room has two steps access to corridor, and nearby bathroom, which renders it suitable to less mobile guests.

Watersports feature prominently in the area and dinghies canoes and windsurfers can be hired at Carsington watersports centre. Day tickets are available for trout fishing including boat hire if required. A bird watchers paradise there are many hides strategically sited around the lake. The house is in an excellent position for cyclists (cycle hire available) or ramblers to take advantage of the many trails and all the striking scenery of the southern Peak National Park – and a noted real ale pub just up the lane!
The historic lead-mining, market-town of Wirksworth is but a few minutes drive, and offers good shopping, and a fine visitor centre. Ashbourne (the Gateway to Dovedale) is six miles away, with swimming pool and beautiful park. It is ideal for shopping or browsing, having four supermarkets, speciality shops and a tourist information office.
The country towns of Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell are easy to reach, Chatsworth is a short drive away and children will love the Crich Tramway Village, American Adventure Theme Park, Gulliver's Kingdom, Midland Railway Centre (look out for Thomas!!) - and the ever-popular Alton Towers (25 mins).
